Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a form of massage aimed at the deeper tissues structures of the muscle and its tendon attachments. It uses the tools of Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, and some of the same strokes as Swedish massage. The work is more focused and the pressure will generally be more as the therapist is working to release chronic muscle tension or “knots” and breaking up scar tissue. Due to the nature of deep tissue work, the person is likely to experience a bit more discomfort, although, it should not hurt. Open communication during the session is crucial in order to maximize the benefits and minimize discomfort. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for athletes, weekend warriors or those suffering from injuries, and repetitive strain patterns.
